Alacrity’s Most Anticipated Games of November 2020
November is shaping up to be the biggest month of the year for gaming. The next generation of consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series X, are finally available. Cyberpunk 2077, at long last, arrives in the middle of the month. Several more blockbuster games and lesser known Indie gems lie ahead of us as well. Time to see what we’ll be spending our holiday money and time on this year.
(Update: Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed until December 10th)
DiRT 5 (PC, PS4, XBO) November 6
The next off road racing extravaganza by Codemasters. Featuring suspenseful racing in the elements focused more on arcade-like fun than realistic simulation. DiRT games bring back the fun we all had in Burnout with bumper to bumper action. Kicking up snow and sand will look better than ever in this next generation installment.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (PC, XSX, PS4, XBO, Stadia) November 10
Ubisoft’s iconic series is looking better than ever. Assassin’s Creed started to become stale until Origins evolved the franchise, drawing inspiration from RPG greats like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. They continued to blend a branching story in ancient Greece with the freedom and open world we know in Odyssey. We can’t wait to see how Ubisoft Montreal refines this new formula even more in a brand new Vikings setting.
The Falconeer [PC, XBO] – November 10
This could be the indie gem of the month by developer Tomas Sala. The gameplay is reminiscent of Star Fox except you are riding a giant bird in a beautiful cell shaded world. There is something mesmerizing about dogfighting on a falcon, shooting pirates with lightning over the open sea.
Demon’s Souls [PS5] – November 12
Everyone knows how influential Dark Souls has been to the ARPG genre in the last decade. Well before that came FromSoftware’s hit PS3 title Demon Souls. This fully realized remake is setting the PS5 up for success, riding the souls-like hype train. For many players this will be their first time exploring the kingdom of Boletaria or suffering from the constant dying and respawning loop that could make you question your sanity.
Godfall [PC, PS5] – November 12
The long awaited looter-slasher action RPG by Counterplay Games. This game looks stunning with a unique art style ready to showcase what next generation consoles are all about. There is still much to learn about the gameplay but it gives off a Warframe meets Dark Souls vibe in a high fantasy setting. We are especially looking forward to the three player co-op loot grind.
Marvel’s Spider-Man PS5 Miles Morales [PS5, PS4] – November 12
Insomniac Games knocked it out of the park with Marvel’s Spiderman leaving us hungry for more web-slinging action. While the Peter Parker story is a timeless classic, we are looking forward to enjoying a fresher take on the franchise with Miles Morales.
The Pathless [PC, PS5, PS4] – November 12
From the creators of ABZU, Giant Squid is bringing us another gorgeous Indie title to look out for in November. In Pathless you play as an archer partnered with your eagle in a vast mystical forest. The game focuses on high speed action, flashy combat and defies traditional rules of aiming. We are looking forward to solving puzzles and fighting epic boss battles in this serene open world adventure game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War [PC, PS5, XSX, PS4, XBO] – November 13
The year can’t end until the next blockbuster Call of Duty releases. Infinity Ward’s latest entry to the series, Modern Warfare, broke record sales with a return to the series roots. The bar is higher than ever for the franchise and we are looking forward to seeing how Black Ops Cold War will stand out. The setting for the campaign intrigues us the most, spanning multiple decades during the Cold War.
Cyberpunk 2077 [PC, PS4, XBO, Stadia] – November 19
That’s right, no more delays, it’s finally here. When you have Keanu Reeves advertisements worldwide there is no backing down now. CD Project Red’s highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 features the sprawling, futuristic open world of Night City. Take control of the fully customizable protagonist, V, and immerse yourself in a branching storyline on a quest for immortality. A lot has been promised in this one and we can only hope that it lives up to the hype.
